A lecture is just that--a lecture. Our lectures can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes and at times will involve a slide presentation. Locations for our lectures will be in various locations throughout California, but more commonly in the northern California region. Head to our "Lectures" event page.
A Demo is a demonstration given by one of our instructors or guest instructors in the medium which they paint. A demo can range from 1-3 hours. Generally our demos will take place on location outdoors in the northern California inland and coastal regions. On occasion, we offer demos indoors at various locations throughout California. Head to our "Demos" event page.
We offer classes generally in 3 hour segments. But our generous teachers will often go overtime if you let them. That's what happens when you do what you love. We also offer the opportunity to enroll in four classes at a time with each instructor. The beauty of enrolling for more than one at a time is that you save money PLUS you get to pick which dates you wish to attend over the course of your entire lifetime! (Though we suggest attending within 6 months to a year.) Head to our "Classes" event page.
Mini-Workshops are generally 2-3 days and seven hours each day with an hour lunch break and are held on location outdoors. Mini-workshops are generally a little more expensive than the time one would put into a class or a class series, but the nature of a mini-workshop, or standard workshop for that matter, involves a bit more work for both the student and the teacher. The student gets a little more information, more lesson plans, plus we throw in refreshments and snacks, to boot. So, in the end, the cost of our mini-workshops is really a great deal, we believe. Head to our "Mini-Workshops" event page.
A Standard Workshop is generally 4-5 days and seven hours each day with an hour lunch break and are held on location outdoors. A Workshop Tour can be anywhere from 5-15 days with generally seven hours of instruction each day and an intermittent 2-3 days off for pre-booked sightseeing ventures (short excursions such as museum trips, horseback trips, hikes, etc.) and/or down time in the middle of the tour. The workshop tours are held on location outdoors and the student has the option of reserving our entire workshop tour package which includes but is not limited to: lodging, ground travel transportation the day prior to and the day after each workshop tour, some meals, and miscellaneous adventures. Head to our "Workshop Tours" event page.
A Tour is an uninstructed event with anywhere from 1-4 of our instructors in attendance. Our instructor/s will paint along side of you in areas that could be far off the beaten path in a remote village, in the middle of a bustling foreign city.or at a Sonoma or Napa Valley winery while sipping our fantastic wines! Our tours can be anywhere from 1-10 days. A tour is a great event for those who wish to have their travel plans figured out for them once they arrive the tour destination. It's also great for those who simply wish to have a leisurely painting adventure and to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the camaraderie of other painters. Head to our "Tours" event page.
A Paint Out is an uninstructed (informal or formal) event with anywhere from 5-60 in attendance. The locations can be far off the beaten path, on private property or at a posh winery or hotel! Our Paint Outs can be anywhere from 2 hrs to 2 days. This is a great event for those who wish to meet other plein air painters and enjoy the camaraderie in an non-competitive environment. We are currently in the planning stages to add more scheduled Paint Outs to our calendar. For now, please learn about our small, informal and relaxed "Pet Friendly Paint Outs" on our event page.
